International ICF Delegation to Attend Smart City Summit and Expo
The Smart City Summit and Expo (SCSE) in Taipei is one of the largest conferences and expositions for smart city technology and trends in the world, taking place in a nation that produces 60% of the world’s semiconductors. From March 19 through 22, SCSE will host 150,000 visitors at convention centers in Taipei and Kaohsiung. Joining them will be a large ICF delegation from cities, technology companies, universities and public-private accelerators organized in partnership with the ICF Institute in Taiwan and the national organization ICF Taiwan.
Led by ICF co-founder John G. Jung and executive director Matt Owen, the delegation will attend a full day of Smart City and Intelligent Community conference sessions developed by ICF, the ICF Institute in Taiwan and ICF Taiwan. Many of the delegates will also be speakers, moderators and panelists throughout the conference and awards ceremony. Delegates will attend the announcement of ICF’s Smart21 Communities of 2024, the first stage in the year-long process that ends in October with the naming of the Intelligent Community of the Year.
In addition to the Summit in Taipei, delegates will travel by high-speed rail to Kaohsiung at the south end of the Island Nation to experience the EXPO offerings in that city as well. Canadians are a significant part of the delegation and will meet with the Canadian Trade Office in Taiwan during their visit.
From March 22 – 25, several members of the delegation will extend their time in Taiwan by joining site visits to companies, universities and government offices in Hsinchu and New Taipei City. Delegates will meet with the Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) as well as one of the world’s most significant silicon chip makers, Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (TSMC) and other innovative companies in the Hsinchu Science Park. Delegates will also meet with faculty and students from Chung Hua University, home of the ICF Institute in Taiwan where a Masters Program in Smart Cities and Intelligent Communities is taught. And in New Taipei City, the delegates will visit innovative companies and organizations from Chunghwa Telecom’s 5G Site Tour to other innovative companies in the 2022 ICF Intelligent Community of the Year.
