Smart Cities Challenge Finalists
The Smart Cities Challenge application process closed on April 24, 2018. Over 200 communities, large and small, from across Canada submitted their innovative ideas to the Smart Cities Challenge. An independent panel of 13 jury members evaluated the submissions based on the criteria set out in the Applicant Guide. Twenty finalists were selected to go on to the next step of the Challenge. Each finalist community will receive a $250,000 grant to help it develop its final proposal. Read on to view the full list.

9. Nunavut Communities, Nunavut
10. Saint Mary’s First Nation and City of Fredericton, New Brunswick
11. Parkland, Brazeau, Lac Ste Anne and Yellowhead Counties, Alberta
12. City of Airdrie and Area, Alberta
13. City of Richmond, British Columbia
14. City of Guelph and Wellington County, Ontario
15. City of Saskatoon, Saskatchewan
16. Greater Victoria, British Columbia
17. Region of Waterloo, Ontario
18. Quebec City, Quebec
