Community Solutions Network – Roundtables across Canada and Atlantic Provinces Idea Camp

The Intelligent Community Forum Canada (ICF Canada) in partnership with the Canadian Urban Institute (CUI), are supporting Evergreen Canada in delivering a Future Cities Program known as the Community Solutions Network (CSN) through Roundtables and one of the Idea Camps in the Atlantic Provinces. The CSN program of Roundtables covers communities across Canada.

Initially CUI and ICF Canada undertook Roundtables in Windsor-Essex and Olds, Alberta in May 2019. In October, four communities are focused on: Whitehorse, Yukon; Cape Breton, Nova Scotia; Kelowna, B.C.; and Sherbrooke, Quebec. CSN is a community-centric platform serving every type of Canadian community: big, mid-sized, Indigenous, small and northern. The CSN Roundtables provide these communities with the knowledge, expertise, experience and guidance needed to build internal capacity and navigate the smart cities landscape. In addition, it is hoped that solutions explored and discussed through this network are able to be adapted at the local level or the experiences and learnings from these efforts can be shared among communities, organizations and others across Canada. On October 16, 2019, the Atlantic Idea Camp took place in Mount Pearl, Newfoundland. These are expected to be high-impact keynotes, panels and small group discussions, hosted by the City of Mount Pearl and co-organized by Evergreen, Canadian Urban Institute and ICF Canada. The Idea Camp will explore what it means to apply open smart city approaches to real-world challenges. The theme of the Idea Camp focuses on small smart communities and why they are well-positioned to implement smart solutions. Great examples will be discussed from Bridgewater, N.S.; Stratford, Ontario; Olds, Alberta; Fredericton, N.B.; and Mount Pearl, Newfoundland.
